On Sunday December 10th, 2017 The Hand Stand participated in the 12th annual "Miracle on 3rd Street", a charity event, coordinated by Hogs & Heifers Saloon, benefiting the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NVCCF).
The Hand Stand was honored to donate their time and equipment to make wax hands and other keepsakes for the NVCCF families. In order to provide these families, that have at least one child with cancer or another life-threatening disease, with a Christmas experience, over 150 bikers ride from Hogs & Heifers Saloon to Sunrise Children’s Hospital to help Santa give out gifts. The kids and their families participate in many fun, donated activities including jump houses, face painting, ornament making, a coloring book station, donut decorating with Dunkin' Donuts, lunch from Pizza Rock, and even motorcycle rides from Santa’s elves!
This year, the families were treated to a new activity, wax hands from The Hand Stand – and it was a HUGE hit! The line for wax hands moved quickly even though there was a steady line from the start of the event until after all of the other tents had packed up and Santa headed back to the North Pole to finish prepping for his other big day!
To accommodate the participants that didn't want to make a wax hand, our owner, Joseph Myers, brought real flowers and silk flowers so those children could have a keepsake of their own. We dipped the flowers into the wax of the color of the child's choosing. Joseph did this so everyone would be included and no one would feel left out! Way to go Joe!
The participants were not the only ones having a good time making the wax hands, The Hand Stand employees did too! Kudos to those who he donated their time and enthusiastically helped The Hand Stand made our first year at this event a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Stay tuned for more fun events and activities provided by The Hand Stand.
